Scrappy Lone Star Quilt II

Lately I’ve been on a mission to finish all of my works in progress. And this quilt is one of them. A coupe of years ago I made a similar one that I gave to a friend. you can see it here. And while I was piecing the scrappy pieces for the lone star I gave my friend, I did all the pieces for this one. But it sat untouched for many months; then at the beginning of the year I thought I really should get back to it. I began thinking how I was going to pice it together and I decided on the scrappy border, so I began the long process of piecing the scrappy panels that will make the border. While it takes a while to sew all these pieces, it is a very enjoyable process. I even got so carried away and made many more than I needed (the start of another project I guess).

For the background of this quilt I chose a very soft double gauze chambray that I had in my stash. While it is difficult to photograph, as it changes color depending on how the light hits it, In person is a very lovely color (a bit of navy blue and some black in it). What I like the most is that once washed it will crinkle beautifully and get softer and softer.

For The quilting, I quilted it using the Serpentine stitch on my Janome sewing machine. I think lately, it is my favorite stitch to use for quilting.

Until next time

Martha
