Managing Scraps

Managing fabric scraps is not the easiest task. If you are a quilter, you know that each project produces more scraps (and sometimes it feels as if the reproduce during the night). I have tried many methods for organizing my scraps: in a basket all together, sorted by color or theme, by size… etc. But lately I have found that if I iron and cut my scraps into pieces I commonly use I tend gravitate to them more often and incorporate them into projects. Today I took the task of cutting all my green scraps into 2.5 inch squares. 2.5 inch squares is such a common size and very often used in many blocks, I’m sure I’m going to put them into a project very soon… My first thought as I was cutting them was to make an Irish chain quilt… maybe.

But for now I emptied one basket full of unorganized scraps and have a nice pile of cut up squares ready to be sewn.

Until next time .
