Eight Point Star Quilt

As the winter is coming to an end here in California, I have felt more inspired to work in the sewing room and finish a few of the projects I would like to finish. This quilt has been in the works since last year. While the design is not too busy, working with diamonds is always daunting. So It took me a while to get all those point right. Lots of pining and pressing. But I think I managed to get most of the points in the center to match. But probably my biggest procrastination in the process was not finishing the quilt top, but getting started on the quilting as I knew it was going to be quite a process.

The quilt finishes at 90”X90”; thus, my putting off finishing it. It took quite a bit of arm strength to hold it and run it through the sewing machine to get the quilting done. But at the end I think it was totally worth it. The crinkly texture (even before gets washed) is exactly what I was hoping to achieve.

For the stars, I decided to pair the pretty floral fabrics (that I got at Joann’s Frabrics before they closed for good) with Robert Kauffman Essex Linen. For me linen is one of my favorite fabrics to use in quilts. It brings so much warmth and amazing texture to any quilt.

Wishing you a happy Spring

Until Next time
