Scrappy Improv Medallion Quilt

This little quilt began as a way to use up some orphan blocks I had left over from my last quilt. The economy blocks in the center were the start of it all. I arranged them on my design wall undecided if I was going to make more to make a full size quilt or make some sort of wall hanging with them. In the end I decided to go the improv route and make a medallion quilt. Used the economy blocks as the center and each layer that I added was made up as I went. Because the economy blocks are really scrappy I thought I would keep with the theme. As I attached each layer, it gave it more color and added to the scrappiness look and I absolutely love the result. Some many lovely scraps make this quilt such a busy yet whimsical design. I love when a quilt comes together so easily, so organically as if the fabrics are telling you where to go next.

To quilt this quilt I used the serpentine stitch on my Janome machine and used a very soft flannel for the back.

Quilt finishes at 60X60 inches

Until next time.
